The project commenced in March of last year and aims to provide the school with the leading indoor facilities for sports such as Netball, Cricket, Badminton, Basketball, Tennis and more. In addition, the development will enhance the school’s Strength and Conditioning facilities through the creation of a purpose built Gymnasium and Fitness suite. The complex will elevate the school’s already outstanding provision for pupils as well as its existing facilities, which include a Swimming Pool, Sports Hall with Indoor Cricket Net facility, Floodlit Astroturf, multiple Rugby pitches and dedicated Cricket Ground.
Excitement is building as the development is on track with the superstructure complete, roof deck in place and the walls under construction. The existing Sports Hall is also being re-clad to enable it to complement the new facility.
Mr Getty commented: “The project will be a game changer for our pupils at Preparatory and Senior Schools. NULS is renowned for its sporting provision and achievements and we are clearly now very focussed on taking our facilities, and the opportunities we extend to our pupils ever higher.
“A very important aspect of this development is how it will also impact on sport across the region, as the clubs we partner with in Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Swimming and so forth also experience a step-change in just what we are able to offer to them too. It is a very exciting period. We cannot wait for the grand opening and I know our pupils feel just the same.”
