A budding actor from Newcastle-under-Lyme School has auditioned amongst thousands of young people to secure a place with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.
Year 11 pupil Lizzie Daily-Hunt has been offered a place with the highly prestigious National Youth Theatre and will now undertake an intensive acting course over the Summer. Her success means she then becomes a member of the organisation until the age of 25, enabling her to take part in training courses, productions and more over the next decade.
The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain is a world leading youth arts organisation and has nurtured the talent of hundreds of thousands of young people since it was founded in 1956. Famous alumni include Dame Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Firth, Rosamund Pike, Orlando Bloom, Catherine Tate, Sir Ben Kingsley and many more.
Lizzie has also recently achieved her LAMDA Grade 8 Acting, at the age of only 15, and received a Distinction with a very high mark of 94/100, after being taught and supported by the highly talented Ella Jones, Newcastle-under-Lyme School’s LAMDA Speech and Drama Teacher.
After first enrolling in drama lessons at the age of 4, Lizzie has fostered her love for acting through taking part in countless productions with School such as Into The Woods and The Sound of Music and has been part of The New Vic Youth Theatre and The Young Rep Acting School based at the Stoke Repertory Theatre.
As well as being newly welcomed into the National Youth Theatre, Lizzie also successfully auditioned for The National Youth Girls’ Choir when she was in Year 6 at NULS, and is now a member of The National Youth Training Choir, performing in concerts across the UK.
Speaking of her fantastic achievement, Lizzie said: “Working with The National Youth Theatre has been my ambition for several years. It is a fantastic opportunity to develop my acting and performing and I am so grateful to all the amazing support I have had to get there.”
Ella Jones, Lizzie’s LAMDA Speech & Drama teacher and Acting Coach who guided her throughout the preparation and auditions said: “I am incredibly proud of Lizzie. Applying to the National Youth Theatre is a really tough process and she has shown such resilience and determination throughout all of the preparation.”
Newcastle under Lyme School’s youngest pupils have raised over £5000 for Cancer Research UK by completing a sponsored walk ‘from’ Newcastle-under-Lyme to Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia.
