Newcastle under Lyme School Sixth Former, Molly Manaton, has organised Crewe and Nantwich RUFC Girls Academy’s first ever tour which saw the team recently travel to Gloucester.
Lower Sixth Former Molly successfully planned a tour for the team who made the journey to Gloucester to watch Sale Sharks Women play Gloucester Hartpury as well as playing a fixture with a local team.
After a previous tour planned by Molly was cancelled due to Covid, Molly threw her hat in the ring to organise a tour for the Girls Academy. The Team decided they wanted to watch a game of the nearest Women’s club, Sale Sharks, as the academy’s former coach and player, Georgie Perris-Redding, now plays for Sale.
In organising the tour, Molly took it upon herself to plan an itinerary, work out costs, handle payments, organise an evening meal, arrange a fixture, and even order customised tour hoodies for the girls.
To top off a fantastic weekend, Molly was also interviewed on BBC Radio Gloucestershire about her team, the tour and ladies rugby and the team drew 5-5 in their own match.
Well done Molly on such a great achievement!
Newcastle under Lyme School’s youngest pupils have raised over £5000 for Cancer Research UK by completing a sponsored walk ‘from’ Newcastle-under-Lyme to Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia.
