The Newcastle Under Lyme School 1st XI Senior Boys Hockey Team enjoyed a massively successful tour in Bath which also saw them make it through to the EH Tier 3 National Final.
The tour, which is the first school sports tour since the pandemic hit in 2020, saw the team compete in the Bath Hockey Festival hosted by King Edward’s School in Bath. The tour kicked off with the team winning the EH Tier 3 National Semi-Final against Prior Park College after drawing 3-3 at full time and then winning 4-2 in penalties. They are now through to the National Final which will be held at Lea Valley Hockey Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London on 27th April.
During the Festival, the team had the pleasure of playing against a number of accomplished teams from across the country in beautiful settings such as at Monkton Combe School and Prior Park College. The team beat Elizabeth College from Guernsey 3-2, unfortunately lost to Hurstpierpoint but then topped off the tour on the Sunday morning with a 5-2 win against Lingfield College from Surrey.
Many thanks to our Tour Sponsor Carys Roberts from Swan Physio, a local, modern Physiotherapy practice offering affordable high quality treatments in a convenient and pleasant setting, and our Kit Supplier Jo Royall from Eighteen Hockey Ltd whose family are lifelong members of North Stafford Hockey Club, based at our School.

To top off a wonderful tour and experience for our young Hockey players, they also had the chance to enjoy social activities, explore the beautiful sights of Bath, and visit Bristol City Centre too.
