Castilian and Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering, Dr Neil Robinson returned to Newcastle-under-Lyme School to deliver a talk about his career in the second of our NULS Futures Forums series.
Neil, a Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering at the University of Western Australia, spoke to Sixth Formers and budding scientists about his varied career which has taken him all around the world and sees him research decarbonisation, energy systems and the transportation of hydrogen.
Starting at NULS, Neil spoke about his journey from school to his career now as a Forrest Postdoctoral Fellow. Upon leaving NULS, Neil secured a place at Cardiff University to study Chemistry. His outstanding achievements in his undergraduate degree allowed him to later go onto study for his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge. After completing an earlier placement in industry in the Netherlands, Neil made the decision to pursue a career in academia that would allow him to work to find solutions to one of the world’s most pressing problems.
Neil’s career now also takes him around the world where he regularly collaborates with fellow scientists, presents his research at global conferences and creates new partnerships to develop his work further.
Neil’s talk was inspiring and insightful for NULS pupils, providing them with information about the range of routes available as they plan their own futures.
