Newcastle-under-Lyme School is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Superleague Netball Club, Loughborough Lightning, as it opens an Experience Hub in North Staffordshire for the first time.
The hub, which is based in Newcastle-under-Lyme School’s newly opened state-of-the-art £4m Sports Complex, aims to be the home to North Staffordshire’s top aspiring netballers and seeks to provide girls with the performance environment in which to meet their potential.
The hub provides local Loughborough Lightning U15 and U17 girls with weekly training, including very high quality technical and tactical coaching from Lightning’s elite team. Additionally, members have the opportunity to attend a monthly educational programme aimed at enhancing off-court educational skills that are required to succeed within a performance pathway. Creating opportunities for elite netballers to grow and potentially access careers within academies and Superleague is the goal.
The inaugural match was played at NULS on Friday 23rd September in the new facility which is also the home of Newcastle Town Netball Club, with whom the school has a very close working relationship.
Headmaster, Michael Getty, said: “This is an incredibly exciting development not only for our school but for netball in Staffordshire. Loughborough Lightning are one of the most prestigious and highly performing Superleague teams in the country and we are very proud to welcome them to our school. To bring such fantastic coaching opportunities to the area for the netballers at our school and Staffordshire more widely is a real privilege and we cannot wait to see the hub commence.”
Louis Bond: “The site of the camp was much larger than I had ever expected. Much of the camp was destroyed, but there were the cabin like structures at the front of the complex which were tiny in comparison to the number of people who were forced to stay in them. At the rear of the
