Staffordshire’s Highest Performing Sixth Form

NULS Sixth Form is Staffordshire’s highest performing Sixth Form.  With record-breaking A-Level results, superb facilities and a proven track record of preparing our students for university and careers, we provide an outstanding and tailored education at this crucial stage.

Conveniently located in Newcastle-under-Lyme and readily commutable from Staffordshire and Cheshire, we warmly welcome students who have studied at Newcastle-under-Lyme School, in addition to those who are experiencing NULS for the first time at Sixth Form entry.

Our Sixth Form is a supportive independent school Sixth Form which enables students to blend academic excellence with an enriching co-curricular life.  With our diverse suite of A-Levels to choose from and a personalised approach to university preparation and Degree Apprenticeships, it is clear why NULS Sixth Form is Staffordshire’s highest performing Sixth Form.

Academic Excellence at Newcastle-under-Lyme School Sixth Form

Wide Range of A-Level Subjects and Modern Sixth Form Facilities

We offer a broad range of A Levels that students can choose from and we ensure that every Sixth Form student at Newcastle-under-Lyme School finds subjects to match their passions and ambitions.

From Fine Art to Further Maths, Politics to Psychology and Drama to Design & Technology, the breadth of choice enables our students to excel academically whilst pursuing personalised pathways towards top universities, including Russell Group and Oxbridge destinations.

Our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre includes a modern common room and workrooms, providing inspiring spaces to learn and socialise. Students enjoy access to our multi-million-pound sports complex, newly refurbished theatre, cutting-edge science labs, and specialist creative studios, which provide inspiring spaces to learn, perform and create.

Supporting Students Towards Aspirational Next Steps

We place much value on the preparation that we provide to our students for their future careers and are committed to providing high quality and comprehensive information, advice and guidance to each individual in our Sixth Form.

Many of our students are committed to careers in Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Engineering. To support these ambitions, we offer highly regarded Pre-Med, Pre-Law and Pre-Engineering pathways.  Our Pre-Med Programme is recognised as one of the most successful in the West Midlands.

Additional societies include our Elite Athlete Programme, NULS New Creatives and NULS Performing Arts which all help to enrich our students’ academic development and further boost their employability prospects for the future whether that be at university or through a Degree Apprenticeship.

Our students are supported through the whole university application process by our dedicated Careers team, who enable them to successfully navigate the UCAS process, complete university applications, and/or access Degree Apprenticeships.

We’re incredibly proud of our A-level students and the quality of their destinations and future pathways.  In recent years locations have included Russell Group and Oxbridge Universities,  in addition to degree apprenticeships with destinations including Tesco, JCB and Fisher German.

We specialise on the vast experience and expertise we have within our School, to give our talented students the support they need to fulfil their aspirations for the future.

Dedicated Teaching and Personalised Sixth Form Support

Our approach to teaching and student support works!  Our Class of 2025 were exceptional beating a decade old record within the school with 81% of all results at the prized A* to B grades and 91% of our students gaining places at their universities of choice.

At NULS Sixth Form in Staffordshire, our class sizes are purposely smaller to provide our students with much more personalised learning and attention.  Our Sixth Form enables students to enjoy the best of both worlds; the support and guidance of a school that they can rely on, whilst enjoying the freedom and focus of Sixth Form life.

Our nurturing ethos is a hallmark of a NULS education which runs through to our Sixth Form.  Students develop close bonds with our teaching faculty and are prepared for the demands of the outside world and their future careers.

A Sixth Form Experience Beyond the Classroom

Enrichment & Extracurricular Opportunities

At NULS Sixth Form, our students are busy, fulfilled and encouraged to make the most of the opportunities provided to them through our enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

These activities go hand in hand with academic study, helping students build confidence, resilience and skills that prepare them for university, careers and life beyond Sixth Form.

Leadership & Community

In addition to our enrichment and extracurricular opportunities, our Sixth Form students also take on valuable leadership roles within the school.  Further Senior Leadership opportunities and Co-curricular and Sports Captains provide students with the opportunity to build independence, confidence and leadership skills – qualities highly valued by top universities and employers alike.
