Newcastle-under-Lyme School’s U16 Girls’ Hockey Team made history, becoming the first girls’ team from the school to win a national title after triumphing in the England Hockey U16 Tier 3 National Final.
Their journey to glory saw them dominate the county rounds before being crowned Midlands Champions, overcoming tough competition from across the region. The final, held on 3rd February at Nottingham’s National Hockey Centre, saw the team face formidable opponents including Loreto Grammar School, Stephen Perse Foundation and Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School. The girls then secured their fantastic victory with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Prior Park College.
In preparation for the final, the squad demonstrated outstanding commitment, dedicating themselves to regular training sessions and competitive fixtures both inside and outside of school. Their hard work and determination paid off, earning them a well-deserved national title.
