Sixth Form students celebrated exceptional A-Level results at Newcastle-under-Lyme School but it was those applying to Dentistry who were left with the widest of smiles! With Dentistry now renowned as one of the most difficult to access courses in the entire country, securing places for not one, but two students, was a real point of success.
Lucy Snape and Rubens Leonard, both from Newcastle, both met the straight A*/A offers that they were presented by the Dental Schools at the Universities of Sheffield and Liverpool and are now set to take up their places.
Headmaster, Michael Getty, was delighted for the students, commenting “Rejection rates for Dentistry at university are widely known in education and our Pre-Med Society uses all of its expertise to prepare would-be dentists and doctors for these very challenging selection processes. It’s probably appropriate to say, that Lucy and Rubens were grinning from ear to ear when they received their results and knew that they had secured their prestigious places!”
Newcastle-under-Lyme School has been enjoying an exceptional year of results, as their A-Level results leapt, challenging decade old records, with an outstanding 73% of all results at the prized A*-B grades. Headmaster, Michael Getty, was thrilled, commenting “This cohort’s superb results have challenged those that have stood for a decade. To have this year group secure over 45% of their grades at A*/A is an enormously impressive statistic and so very well deserved!”
