Record-breaking GCSE results were a cause of huge celebration for pupils at Newcastle-under-Lyme School, with an incredible 68.3% of all grades in the prestigious and much sought-after Grade 7-9 boundary!
Headmaster, Michael Getty was absolutely delighted stating “We are a little taken back but just how brilliantly this year group have performed. Over 68% Grade 7-9 is a breath-taking statistic, but when you then factor in that over 52% were at Grades 8-9 and a phenomenal 30% were awarded the blue-riband, Grade 9, you must give enormous praise to this very hard working, dedicated and absolutely lovely year group.”
This year’s grades are the highest the school has ever achieved and follow closely on the heels of the school’s record breaking A levels of last week. Mr Getty continued, “It is quite something when almost one in every three examinations is awarded the highest possible grade 9 outcome, with an enormous 16 pupils scoring straight Grade 8s and 9s and four pupils achieving the elusive clean sweep of straight 9s! We are so proud of them all and today is certainly a day for them to celebrate!”
