'Carols by Candlelight' service
During the final week of the autumn term we held our annual ‘Carols by Candlelight’ service in St. Paul’s Church. As ever, the evening proved to be a moving and touching service of Nine Lessons with carols sung by our talented Senior School choirs led by Mr Sagar.
Our thanks go out to the Design and Technology department who have masterfully honed, over the years, the skill of creating the candle stands and holders that illuminate the church and add a real sense of occasion to the service.
The service itself featured the Nine Lessons read by staff, pupils, parents and governors as our whole school community came together to celebrate the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The Nine Lessons themselves tell the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah and ultimately the birth of Christ himself.
As one parent said at the end of the service “Now, it’s Christmas...”
