Pupils were jumping for joy at Newcastle under Lyme School after they scored ‘perfect’ grade 9s in their GCSE results. Zach, Varshini, Oliver, Kiru and Niranjan all managed to achieve the elusive clean sweep of top grades with an incredible 45 grade 9s shared between them!
A delighted Headmaster, Michael Getty, commented “This group of pupils’ grades are a little breathtaking. Grade 9 is always elusive and so demanding to score, and so to have not just one, but five pupils achieve this perfect series of grade 9s is a real cause for celebration.”
“The pupils have worked tremendously hard and are now set so impressively for the future as they move to Sixth Form and look ahead to university. Maybe they can look forward to joining more of our students at Oxford and Cambridge in the future? We will see – but for now they should certainly celebrate these incredible results.”
Newcastle under Lyme School’s youngest pupils have raised over £5000 for Cancer Research UK by completing a sponsored walk ‘from’ Newcastle-under-Lyme to Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia.
