At all levels the creative and performing arts are highly valued and the opportunities for drama, music and performing are exceptional. Our rich and imaginative annual programme of concerts and plays gives every child the chance to make a contribution and experience the excitement of creative performance. Our Music Scholars at all levels contribute to this programme, having many chances to show off their talents.
Music is at the heart of our co-curricular programme with a wealth of opportunities for pupils of all abilities. We are proud that our choirs, orchestra, wind band and other ensembles deliver a repertoire of pieces from classical to modern with commitment, enthusiasm and a high level of ability.
A typical year in music might include concert series, teatime concerts, Choral Society concerts, Rock and Jazz Evenings, Wind Band concerts, Musicals and our outstandingly beautiful Carols by Candlelight.
The Music School offers dedicated facilities for lessons and performance rehearsals, as well as Music IT facilities.
Our Director of Music would be delighted to hear from any parents with questions about Music Provision.
Extra-curricular Music
Many pupils also take regular lessons with peripatetic music tutors, co-ordinated by our director of Music. Pupils are able to take lessons in all orchestral instruments plus piano, saxophone, guitar, drums and singing. These lessons allow our pupils access to the highest levels of qualifications with pupils regularly reaching Grade 8 and diploma level.
