Pupils were jumping for joy on a record breaking day at Newcastle-under-Lyme School after they scored ‘perfect’ grade 9s in all of their GCSEs!
Four students, James, Caleb, Alice and Alexandra all managed to achieve the hugely prized and highly elusive clean sweep of top grades with an incredible 41 grade 9s shared between them! A delighted Headmaster, Michael Getty, commented “This group of pupils’ grades are a quite breath-taking. Grade 9 is always so demanding to score, and so to have not just one but four pupils achieve this perfect series of grade 9s is a real cause for celebration. The pupils have worked tremendously hard and are now set so impressively for the future.
“Almost one in every three GCSEs scored grade 9 at NULS this year, which is record breaking for us, and 16 pupils actually scored straight Grade 8s and 9s this year, which is an incredible statistic too. Maybe they can all now look forwards to joining more of our students at Oxford and Cambridge in the future? We will see – but for now they should certainly celebrate these incredible results.”
