At all levels the creative and performing arts are highly valued and the opportunities for drama, music and performing are quite exceptional. Our rich and imaginative annual programme of concerts and plays gives every child the chance to make a contribution and experience the excitement of creative performance. Our Drama Scholars contribute to productions throughout the year, having opportunities to showcase their talents.
Drama is at the heart of our Co-curricular offer. We love seeing our school and pupils transformed by their commitment to the wonderful performances staged.
Regular rehearsals and co-curricular clubs support three major performances each year. Pupils have access to specialist teaching for LAMDA Speech and Drama qualifications where many pupils excel and achieve outstanding results.
Our Pupils really are Drama stars and we are so proud that over many years we have seen pupils move on to professional careers on stage, on screen and behind the scenes.
Productions
Regular rehearsals and co-curricular clubs support three major performances each year.
In the Autumn term, our Whole School Musical brings together Music and Drama to showcase the talents of all of our Senior School pupils. Recent productions have included ‘Grease’, ‘Me and My Girl’ and ‘The Sound of Music’.
In Spring, our Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form pupils bring us a smaller and more challenging piece of drama or musical theatre. Here we see the benefits of the great training our Drama Department offers. These productions are high-quality and seriously impressive. Recent productions have included ‘Into the Woods’, ‘Lord of the Flies’ and ‘Kes’.
In the Summer Term, our Years 7, 8 and 9 take to the stage and bring us a play or musical. Their enthusiasm and the inventiveness and commitment of the Drama Department ensures a great evening and wonderful development for our pupils. ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Joseph’ and ‘Annie’ have all featured in recent years.
