Drama at Newcastle-under-Lyme School is thriving!
From our youngest Prep School pupils right through to our Sixth Form leaders, Drama is a big part of our co-curricular offering, providing a platform for personal growth and resilience and we offer a wealth of performance opportunities throughout the year.
We are delighted to announce that Noah in Year 11 has been offered a place with the National Youth Theatre.
Following in the footsteps of National Youth Theatre alumni including Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig and Orlando Bloom and with an acceptance rate of 10%, Noah is now part of the world-renowned youth arts organisation dedicated to launching the next generation of talent into the creative industries.
This success is a wonderful testament to our thriving LAMDA training and Drama here at NULS. Noah joins Olivia (Year 13), Maia, Wilson and Joe (all in Year 11) who are also a part of the National Youth Theatre.
Mrs Jones, our Peripatetic LAMDA Teacher, said “I’m incredibly proud of all of the students. This recognition by such a well-known and respected institution is a very well-deserved testament to their hard work, dedication and talent.”
With thousands of young people auditioning across the UK each year, we are incredibly proud of Noah and our growing NULS contingent at the NYT. We can’t wait to see where this stage takes Noah, Olivia, Maia, Wilson and Joe.
In March, 54 of our students from Prep, Senior and Sixth Form took their LAMDA exams, ranging from the Introductory Levels in Acting, Verse & Prose and Public Speaking right through to the prestigious post-Grade 8 P.CertLAM Performance Certificate.
We are delighted to announce that the results are in … and they are spectacular! Our pupils have achieved a wonderful 49 Distinctions and 5 very high Merits!
Special congratulations go to Kiru (Year 13) who received a high Distinction in the post-Grade 8 P.CertLAM qualification. As a post-Grade 8 award, this is equivalent to an A Level and carries significant UCAS points – a remarkable achievement while simultaneously preparing for A Level exams.
The momentum doesn’t stop there. With nearly 200 exams scheduled for June, our pupils are already busy preparing alongside Mrs Jones and our dedicated LAMDA teaching team.
Congratulations to everyone involved.
