Designed to instil a lifelong passion for the arts, drama at NULS Prep offers every pupil from Year 3 to Year 6 the chance to shine in high-quality productions. Our theatrical calendar is a highlight of the school year, featuring two major showcases: an ambitious Spring Term production for Years 3 and 4, and a spectacular Summer Musical for Years 5 and 6. From the African savanna of The Lion King to the magical Yellow Brick Road of The Wizard of Oz, our stage is a revolving door of beloved classics.
Even our youngest performers in Nursery through Year 2 get their moment in the spotlight, delighting families with our traditional Nativity and festive Christmas shows.
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils recently proved they were “part of the family” with a triumphant staging of Oliver with a Twist. This fresh take on Charles Dickens’ classic saw iconic characters like the Artful Dodger, Nancy, and a formidable Mrs. Fagin artfully portrayed with maturity beyond their years. The production was a masterclass in hard work and infectious joy, leaving the audience “asking for more!” A huge thank you to everyone—onstage and off—who made this Victorian venture such a resounding success.
The excitement continues as our Year 5 and 6 pupils prepare to transport us to the swamp! This summer, the Margaret Powell Theatre will be transformed into the magical kingdom of Far Far Away for our production of Shrek The Musical.
Audiences can expect a whirlwind adventure as Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona take on the diminutive Lord Farquaad in this much-loved tale of friendship and identity. We are counting down the days until we see the culmination of months of dedicated rehearsals from our talented staff and pupils. It’s going to be “ogre-the-top” spectacular!
