We are incredibly proud of our students’ successes throughout our thriving Performing Arts department. Students of all ages continue to excel throughout external examinations, in-house performance opportunities and representing our school within external competitions.
Following on from our Year 3 and 4’s fantastic performance of Wind in the Willows before the Easter break, in-house opportunities for our pupils to showcase their performance talents have continued with a tremendous Music for Stage and Screen concert showcasing talented musicians and choir members. Demonstrating the talents of student’s of all ages, our Prep students performed their annual Charity Concert in honour of Save the Children and our Senior School Musical Scholars also delivered a programme of outstanding performances in our Margaret Powell Theatre.
It’s wonderful to see our student’s talents recognised outside of the school with our budding performers excelling in their LAMDA examinations. The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art examinations enhance student’s skills in performance and self-confidence, whilst providing recognised qualifications. We are delighted that our students’ gained 35 Distinctions, the highest level of achievement. A special mention to Sixth Former Kiru, who has now achieved Distinction in every single Acting grade and will complete her Grade 8 Verse and Prose exam this term! Congratulations must also go to students’ Maia and Wilson who have also been selected to join the National Youth Theatre – a fantastic achievement as places are highly sought after with over 5000 applicants each year!
Dance at NULS also continues to go from strength to strength and it was lovely to see a packed Margaret Powell Theatre for the NULS Dance Debut in April. Prep and Senior students delighted as they performed a variety of solo and ensemble pieces in everything from tap and contemporary, to Bollywood and street. It was a joy to watch and we cannot wait to see what is next for our dancers!
We now look ahead to our final in-house productions of the academic year with our Senior School’s performance of Treasure Island and our Year 5 and 6 production of Finding Nemo in June.
