The Orme Nursery is part of the junior section of Newcastle under Lyme School. Children aged 3 and 4 years can be admitted at any time of the year subject to availability; “Rising 3`s” can be admitted during the term of their 3rd birthday. The Nursery is open throughout the year (50 weeks) providing children with a high quality of care and Early Years education and is inspected by the Independent School Inspectorate.
The Nursery manager, who has Early Years Professional status (level 6), leads a well qualified, experienced team in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage within a superbly resourced Nursery unit which is closely linked to the Reception classes.
Nursery education is very much about learning through play and children who feel safe and happy within a stimulating environment will develop strong foundations for future learning. Some activities are planned around themes and topics to provide a focus, whilst others are provided to allow children to make choices and decisions. The dedicated team work to extend the children’s knowledge, understanding and vocabulary whilst also giving them the opportunity to explore and investigate. An introduction to reading and writing is provided for through a wide variety of activities based on “Linking Letters and Sounds” and the phonic scheme in place in the school.
